Source Consulting, the UK's fastest growing independent specialist in data storage software, consulting, integration, and lifecycle management services, today signed an agreement with AppIQ, Inc. to provide software reselling, consulting and integration services on behalf of AppIQ to end user customers in the UK.

Source Consulting is the first of a number of such international territory appointments to be made by AppIQ over the coming months, as AppIQ rapidly expands its distribution channels to further strengthen its emerging position as the leader in standards-based SAN management and storage resource management (SRM) solutions. The deal will mean an expansion of Source Consulting's AppIQ skills in support of joint marketing and packaged pre-sales and post-sales service initiatives, including software implementation, integration, consulting, training, and support. These initiatives are intended to drive software revenues for AppIQ StorageAuthority Suite, AppIQ's enterprise software family that seamlessly integrates SAN management, storage resource management, storage operations management, and storage provisioning capabilities with application-to-spindle capacity and performance management for common messaging, database, and file server platforms. Source Consulting will impro
ve customers' experience through value-added services that build on the StorageAuthority platform. These services will further boost Source Consulting's services revenue that has already seen tremendous growth in the past twelve months.

David Nortier, recently named Vice President and General Manager of Northern Europe at AppIQ, comments, "We see tremendous opportunity for our SAN management and SRM software in the UK now that the availability of critical applications depends more than ever on storage network configuration, capacity, and performance. Source Consulting was top of our UK partner hit list for a number of reasons. It has an exceptional reputation for quality and expertise in the UK storage market, and has always been a leader in delivering management solutions that help customers maximize return on their storage investments, and simplify the management of increasingly complex storage infrastructures. Source Consulting also has the implementation methodologies and IP to ensure that AppIQ StorageAuthority is used to manage strategic projects such as disaster recovery and storage consolidation, in addition to day-to-day storage operations tasks such as provisioning new capacity and diagnosing performance bottlenecks."

Jason Rabbetts, Commercial Director and co-founder of Source Consulting adds, "SAN and NAS implementations require careful planning and meticulous management, but until now, there have been no management solutions that were broad enough or integrated enough to satisfy customer demand. Customers have resorted to managing their storage environments with spreadsheets and numerous point tools, but this has resulted in failed expectations and insufficient service quality. The marriage of AppIQ's market-leading storage network management solutions and Source Consulting's proven consulting, integration, and project management skills will be a winning combination for AppIQ, Source Consulting, and most importantly, end user customers. Source Consulting will be investing heavily in this partnership and are very excited by the future opportunities that carrying AppIQ StorageAuthority will undoubtedly bring."

AppIQ and Source Consulting intend to encourage customers who have deployed SANs and who have complex, multi-vendor storage environments to embrace the ROI benefits of AppIQ's SAN management software, which provides the auto-discovery, monitoring, reporting, planning, chargeback, policy-based automation, and active management features customers need to improve administrative efficiency, reduce operational costs, ensure the availability of SAN-based applications, and build an internal storage utility.

AppIQ will support Source Consulting and UK customers through a new office it recently opened in Manchester. AppIQ's Nortier will work out of this office, where he will leverage his extensive experience in the SRM market from his tenure with HighGround Systems, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems, and Trellisoft, which was acquired by IBM.

Richard Russ, Sales Director and co-founder of Source Consulting concludes, ""Our research is consistent with analysts' findings that SAN management and SRM solutions are the next booming area of the storage market, as many SAN customers will need automated solutions to effectively provision capacity for new applications, migrate data to the SAN, consolidate storage, and realize an overall improvement in SAN TCO. The average corporate storage user enjoys only a 27% storage asset utilisation, so any improvement that can be achieved through more effective management will be warmly embraced. The sum of this two-way partnership is therefore in-tune with technology and market demand."
