Vendors praise Ideal approach to Storage Expo 2003

Chessington, 17 October 2003 The high calibre of delegates attracted to The Ideal Advice Zone at Storage Expo 2003 was hailed as a major factor in the success of Ideal’s approach to the show said participants.

Mark Billington, client executive, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies

“We’re pleased with the throughput of people at the Ideal Advice Zone. There’s a lot of energy around. We’re a relatively new player in the disk business, which is why we’re here – to talk to people from end user businesses as well as system integrators.”

Angela Palmar, marketing communications manager, Certance

“This has been a whole lot better for us than most shows we’ve been at recently. For us, it’s all about creating awareness among resellers and end users, and getting our message out. This has been an excellent opportunity for doing just that.”

Gavin Piper, distribution manager, NAI, said: “The Advice Zone has been very good for us. There’s been a high calibre of people passing through, and we’ve got some very strong sales leads. Storage Expo has not been an appropriate event for us in the past, because our focus is security. But these days, where there’s data there a security issue. We’ve had the chance to expand people’s perception of us from just McAfee and anti-virus software, and talk about things like intrusion detection and firewalls.”

James Stewart, VP of International Sales, Snap Appliance

“Being part of the Ideal Advice Zone has been very useful for us. It’s the perfect place for the first public view of the Snap Disk 10. There’s a lot of major end user companies here, and the Snap Disk 10 is perfect for that type of environment.”

Sophy Thomas, group marketing manager, Ideal, said: “The traditional approach to shows can be one of ‘here’s our product, there’s your stress ball. Thanks for dropping by.’ However with great backing from the vendors the Ideal Advice Zone was a huge success because it offered end users and resellers a chance to discuss the technology solutions to real business problems.”
