Orchestria and IMlogic Offer an Alternative to Banning Instant Messenger (IM) Use with Technology Integration

*Integrated technologies provide real-time, enterprise-level management and control of Instant Messenger communications*

Companies in the finance, banking, insurance and healthcare markets that may put themselves at risk by allowing employees to use unregulated Instant Messaging will have a viable alternative to banning IM use with a new technology partnership between Orchestria and IMlogic.

The partnership, effective from today, is based on technology integration between Orchestria’s Active Policy Management (APM) software that provides real-time visibility and control for email, theWeb and Instant Messenging with IMlogic’s server-based IM Manager.

As a fast-growing communications medium, IM presents a challenge to regulated industries such as finance, banking, insurance, healthcare, government and telecommunications with UK companies struggling to control IM and other electronic communications in the face of regulations such as the Financial Services Authority (FSA) guidelines, Basel 2 and the Turnbull Report and its associated UK Code of Conduct.

Orchestria’s Active Policy Management solution or APM, enables businesses to monitor, control, archive and audit “unstructured” communications, such as those sent and received by email, the Web and Instant Messaging and to retain copies of these in accordance with corporate and regulatory retention policies, based upon the communication’s actual content.

The combined solution unites Orchestria APM’s unique ability to review electronic communications in real-time and to intervene before any wrongful communication occurs, with IMlogic’s distinctive server-based management of IM.

Orchestria’s CEO, Pete Malcolm said, “A dangerous gap has opened up in the way business is conducted, leaving organizations highly susceptible to legal proceedings, regulators’ fines and even cessation of business. This gap is due to conflicting trends; the increased corporate use of e-mail, the Web and instant messaging on one hand, and the trend towards stricter regulation of industry on the other. We help businesses to close this gap and our new partnership with IMlogic will allow us to further extend our IM capabilities, offering an unprecedented - and much needed -level of real-time control of IM communications.”

Francis deSouza, President and CEO of IMlogic said, “IM’s popularity as a business and personal means of communication is undisputed, but management of IM has historically presented compliance managers and executives with a problem. Our technology, integrated with Orchestria’s APM, is a unique proposition to the market as it offers real-time monitoring and control of IM.”

About Orchestria

Orchestria is the leading innovator in technology that provides unprecedented levels of real-time visibility and control of all electronic communications, including email, the Web and Instant Messaging. This process is known as Active Policy Management (APM).

Orchestria's APM solution dynamically applies specific and explanatory policy at the point of interaction, which means that non-compliant events, such as information boundary breaches, document-sharing violations or inappropriate disclosures are determined and filtered as they occur. APM has been deployed by some of the world's largest corporations, including Wall Street banks, which face an increased regulatory environment since the introduction of legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and SEC/NASD regulations. APM’s pioneering technology: analyzes content, context and concepts; enforces corporate policy; lowers risk; eliminates unauthorized data loss and ensures regulatory compliance.

Founded in August 2000, Orchestria has offices in New York and London, and a dedicated development facility based in Taunton, UK. It is a privately held company. More details can be found at
