Iconium Limited is today announcing the latest version of its state-of-the–art internal IT security solution, ESP 2.1. ESP is a web based software solution designed to monitor and report immediately on a wide variety of unusual and suspicious activities on internal networks, servers and workstations. As the product is web based, it is suitable for organisations of all sizes from SMEs to the Global networks of multinational enterprises.
The new version extends the management, maintenance and visualisation capabilities of the product. All current customers are to receive the enhanced version 2.1 free of charge as part of Iconium’s on-going support policy.
The key features in ESP version 2.1 include:
Organisation structure definition and maintenance - This allows you to create and maintain the monitoring structure of an organisation’s business entities using flexible drag and drop methods with an easy-to-use browser-based tool.
Device allocation and management - This feature allows the user to manage registered devices by allocating them to business entities, and assigning different stored profiles to a device using the browser-based management tool.
Agent configuration management - using an intuitive tree structure together with simple check boxes, a user is able to apply levels of sensitivity to selected individual workstations clusters of workstations. This is particularly relevant in business critical or financially sensitive areas.
Time period reporting – With this feature, the user is able to set reports to automatically be produced for defined periods relative in time such as ‘last month’.
Visual agent management - aimed at aiding ‘security management at a glance’, this feature gives a graphical display to workstations, showing which ones are active (green) and which ones are off-line (red).
“The fact that all these new configuration facilities can be defined and maintained in a browser makes ESP, not only the easiest to implement and most cost effective internal security solution available, but, it is far easier to administer, no matter what the organisation’s size.” claims Toby Waldock, Marketing Director of Iconium. “ The enhanced graphical interface now makes it even easier for user staff to identify potential security risk situations, without having in-depth product familiarisation and training” he adds.
Designed to comply with ISO-17799, the international standard for Information Security Management, ESP is able to monitor and report on some 6500 event types on a wide range of network devices. ESP agents sit on servers and workstations throughout a user organisation. By detecting defined types of activities as they occur, security incidents are identified, notified and may acted upon immediately, thus minimising possible consequential damage.
ESP was developed with the help and cooperation of Royal & SunAlliance, which is now the first commercial user of the product.
ESP is available on software licence purchase or rental. Prices are charged on a per server and per workstation basis. Agents start at £290 per server and £29 per workstation. There are price break discounts based on quantity. ESP rental prices are for one, three and five year periods and also reflect volume discounts.
ESP for an average enterprise of 500 servers and 3000 workstations would cost in the region of £280,000 or, on the three year rental, £6300 per month. These prices mark a significant cut in cost for prospective users, compared to competitive products with similar capabilities from companies such as IBM and Computer Associates. In some cases, this can be as much as 60%.
Rental is provided by RentStore, the Storage and Security software arm of The Intelco Group.
