Campaign to Launch Innovative Future Mobile Technology Across Europe

Wacom Components has appointed Rainier PR to handle pan-European PR for its pen-based interface solutions for 3G phones.

Already found in the majority of Microsoft Tablet PCs, Wacom's Penabled 'natural' human interface technology enables mobile phone users to benefit from new data-based applications such as mobile mapping and digital signatures by making them easier to use.

Working in conjunction with its RainierNet international partners Lucy Turpin Communications (Germany) and Early Bird (France), Rainier PR will be responsible for launching Wacom Components to the mobile, business and electronics press in the UK, Sweden, Finland and Norway.

The campaign will target designers in mobile phone companies, wireless operators and early adopter consumers. The account was won following a four-way pitch.

"To succeed in the European wireless market requires a combination of world-leading technology, business understanding and strong public profile," said Neil Ferguson, product marketing manager, Wacom Components.

"We already possess the first two attributes and bringing Rainier PR on board will enable us to reach key decision makers across the mobile market. Rainier PR's senior level model, European capabilities and passion for technology meant that they were the logical choice to help us succeed," added Ferguson.

"As advanced applications such as digital signatures and mobile mapping start being used, people need an intuitive and simple way of interacting with them," said Chris Measures, associate director, Rainier PR. "Wacom's technology is a huge leap forward for mobile phone interfaces and our job is to communicate its proven strengths across Europe."

Penabled offers major improvements over existing resistive touch systems. The increased pen accuracy of Penabled devices enables application zooming, the ability to hover without touching the screen and more realistic handwriting recognition. Additionally, Penabled devices are more durable, offer better colour transmission, pressure sensitivity, increased input area, precise input control than existing technology.
