28 November 2003 - Steria, a leading European IT services provider, has been selected by South Bucks District council as its ICT partner to deliver managed services in a contract worth approximately Β£1.4 million over the next five years.

Steria won the contract, replacing the incumbent Fujitsu Services, as a result of its selection by South Bucks as an approved supplier from the Government’s online Catalogue (GCat). GCat was set up by the Office of Government Commerce to simplify the procurement process for public sector organisations.

As part of the contract, Steria will transfer two of its own staff experienced in managed services for local government to the offices of South Bucks District Council to deliver a series of projects to meet e-government targets and the modernising agenda set by the UK government.

This announcement is one of a long line of e-government partnership wins for Steria, having signed contracts with Breckland Council, Spelthorne Borough Council, London Borough of Lewisham, and Great Yarmouth Borough Council since the beginning of this year.

β€œWe looked for a supplier that could provide and maintain a high quality managed service, with proven success in delivering against e-government targets,β€œ says Councillor Peter Hardy, Leader of South Bucks District Council. β€œWe chose Steria because its team demonstrated that they understood our vision for the future of South Bucks District and how to achieve it, whilst offering a flexible managed service at a competitive price.”

Richard Crade, director managed services, Steria, said β€œSteria is going from strength to strength in e-government; our proven record of high quality work in e-government partnerships, including providing IT services to Lewisham Borough Council, and involvement high profile projects such as Norwich Connect, assures local government customers of our commitment to, and expertise in, the area.” He continued, β€œThe fact that our team is experienced in working within local government themselves means that they can provide expert guidance and support, contributing to the successful outcomes of projects in which we are involved.”

Steria, an end-to-end IT services partner, has sound knowledge of the public sector and provides a comprehensive offer, combining its skills in consulting, systems integration and managed services. Steria's ability to manage large-scale IT projects with commitment to results makes it a trusted partner for the public sector. Over 50 ministries and 60 public bodies work with Steria in Europe, including Danish and Norwegian customs authorities, the Norwegian and Swedish police, the Spanish ministries of Labour, Economy and Health, the French Navy, the Belgian Ministry of the Interior and the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, to name a few.
