The logistics industry is on a continual quest for tighter inventory control, increased traceability and productivity. Coding specialist, Imaje UK, will be showing a range of coding and tracking solutions at Logistics Link in February. They are joining forces for the exhibition with Auto ID specialist DataScan Systems. Visitors will be able to see in-sequence printing, coding and scanning of both radio frequency identification (RFID) and conventional barcode labels.

The feature of the stand will be the printing and encoding of an RFID label in one process. These labels will be printed and applied onto cases then passed through a DataScan door antennae that is two metres wide, to simulate an item leaving the warehouse (product tracking).

Imaje will be showing the range of MP label printers for logistics applications. The MP300 large format printer can print labels up to the A3 DIN standard. Other printers in the MP Series produce standard-sized labels for cases and cartons. The MP Compact is a robust metal-cased desk or bench top model. A mobile version of the Compact is available for installation onto forklifts and other mobile trucks for on-the-spot coding as items are picked from the warehouse store.

There will also be demonstrations of the MP6000 A5 pallet labelling system. This system prints and applies a label onto two adjacent sides of a pallet with absolute precision using an articulated arm. The MP6000 will apply labels with barcode and human readable information while the DataScan reader will scan and read the barcoded information.

All Imaje industrial printers, formerly sold under the Markpoint brand name, are engineered for continuous use in harsh environments. Printers use either direct thermal or thermal transfer technology. The MP range of printers has external label reels to avoid the need to remove the casing for access, resulting in speedy reel change for maximum uptime. Advanced connectivity enables full integration with local and wide area data networks.

Visitors to the show will be able to see how easily Imaje coding equipment integrates with advanced scanning technologies from DataScan. By closing the information loop, intelligent automated tracking becomes an affordable reality with rapid payback.
