Great news for Ideal’s reseller customers in an otherwise tough year
Chessington, December 4: Ideal has grown its Hewlett Packard enterprise storage business an impressive 30 per cent in the last year, following a major investment of resources. The huge surge in sales was for the 12 months ending October 31, 2003, HP’s fiscal year.
Says Donal Madden, Ideal’s Business Manager for HP Storage: “Over this period, the number of people that Ideal has dedicated to selling HP’s enterprise storage solutions has gone from one to seven, and the results are there for all to see. Building HP business for our reseller customers is and will remain of primary importance for us.”
Resellers have been quick to express their delight at such a successful sales drive in an otherwise difficult economic climate. “Ideal has played a major role in helping us to sell more HP-based storage solutions this year,” says Dave Leyland, Sales Director of reseller Sagitta. “Developing a market for these solutions is clearly something they have invested a lot of time and effort on, and this certainly makes them our number one choice of HP distributor.”
Ross Logan, Head of HP’s Storage Business Unit, comments: “The facts speak for themselves. Ideal has committed significant resources to our storage products, and this impressive increase in sales is the result. They know the market and the products well, and clearly have excellent working relationships with all the right resellers.”
As well as investing money and human resources in growing HP sales, Ideal has also launched some major HP-related storage initiatives throughout the year.
The Storage First Aid Centre, developed by Ideal in conjunction with Hewlett Packard, is a new online tool to help resellers achieve greater profits from selling storage area networks (SANs).
And earlier this year, capitalising on the successful launch of HP’s “My First SAN” sales and marketing campaign, Ideal launched its own complementary programme. The theme of the campaign was ‘First Aid for Server Storage’, outlining how HP and Ideal help resellers to encourage their customers to migrate to an HP SAN. The campaign included the provision of training for sales and technical teams, demonstration equipment and on-site consultancy for end users.
