DuroData have launched Version 2 of their unique FileMaker-Sage integration software,

which enables accounts information to be seamlessly updated between FileMaker Pro 6

and Sage Line 50. DuroData are Partner Members of the FileMaker Solutions Alliance

and Sage Registered Developers.

Sage Link enables accounts information to be entered once into FileMaker Pro,

without the need to retype the same information in again in Sage Line 50. “For a

company that uses FileMaker to generate client sales invoices and supplier purchase

invoices, who also use Sage for managing sales and purchase ledgers, the ability to

type in information once and use it in both applications is a great saving” explained

Arthur Evans, DuroData’s Technical Director. “The Sage Link product has been

developed to address a strong demand in the UK for a method by which workgroups

can continue to use FileMaker Pro, with its inherent capabilities for designing custom

database software, while satisfying the requirements of the company accounts

department and external auditors by using Sage Line 50 software for generating

standard financial reports.”

A new market has opened up for Sage Link with the new version. Sage Link 2 is now

compatible with Apple Macintosh OS X. Until now, firms that use the Macintosh

platform to manage customer sales information had no alternative but to re-key

information into Sage Line 50, as Sage software is only available on the Windows

platform. DuroData have received excellent feedback from test sites that have been

using Sage Link 2, particularly in the creative, print and media industry sectors, where

invoices, timesheets, or bike courier orders can all be generated in a FileMaker

solution running on the Mac and be updated automatically across the company

network into Sage Line 50 running on the Windows platform. “We have in effect

given Mac users to chance to start using Britain’s best selling accounts software, even

though it does not by itself run on the Mac” James Figgins, the Sage Link product

developer at DuroData, commented.

Sage Link 2 takes full advantage of the XML technology that is built into FileMaker

Pro 6. This enables Sage Link to exchange customer sales and supplier purchase data

rapidly between FileMaker and Sage over a company’s network. James Figgins

added “Many financial controllers also like the fact that Colleagues using FileMaker

don’t require network access to Sage Line 50, which might contain sensitive account

information. They also recoup a saving in that Sage Link will work perfectly well

with a single user copy of Line 50. In comparison to Act, formerly owned by

Symantec, which is marketed by Sage as Line 50 Companion, a Sage Line 50 licence

must be bought for each colleague that wants to report on client sales information

from their workstation.”

Sage Link 2 now increases the financial reporting available from FileMaker as the

nominal codes for individual line items in an invoice can be updated into Sage. This

enables the accounts department to generate sales analysis reports by service, or

product items.

Sage Link 2 is available for £239 ex VAT per licence, for the Sales Ledger Module,

which links invoices between FileMaker and Sage and the Purchase Ledger Module,

for directly importing purchase invoices into Line 50. Included on the Sage Link

installation CD are a series of ready to use FileMaker customer invoice templates and

an installation and user guide. The software can be purchased directly from

DuroData. Dealer pricing is available for FileMaker Solutions Alliance members.
