UK’s premier Linux event moves to Olympia

LinuxUser & Developer Expo will take place on 20-21st April 2004

London: 19th December 2003 - LinuxUser & Developer Expo 2004 has been relocated to Olympia, London’s premier exhibitor venue, to reflect the rapid growth of the Linux market and accommodate the expected increase in visitors. The event will be held on 20th and 21st April 2004.

The show promises to be the UK’s premier Linux event in 2004. Once again, it will feature a comprehensive programme, together with the LinuxUser & Developer Awards, the only established awards for the Linux market.

IBM will be the show’s Diamond sponsor and further sponsors will be announced shortly. Media partners include LinuxUser & Developer Magazine and Linux Magazine. Maggie Meer, director of Horsepower Media and publisher of LinuxUser & Developer Magazine commented:

“We have a great team and intend to establish the April show as the UK’s premier Linux event, building on the success of last year’s show, which attracted over 5,000 visitors. As the march of Linux into the corporate arena continues, IT professionals are actively seeking to find out how Linux can benefit their organisation. There will be a strong educational element to our show, to reflect that need.”

James Drake-Brockman, former sales manager for the Linux Expo UK, takes up the role of sales director for LinuxUser & Developer Expo. He added:

“I am thrilled to be working for the UK’s leading Linux event. As Linux becomes the platform of choice for SMEs, government and multinational organisations, our event will offer an unrivalled opportunity to investigate the benefits of using Linux and showcase the latest products, services and solutions.”

Show features will include a Business Solutions Village, Desktop Linux Arena, Linux Migration Theatre and a Linux in Finance area.

The April 2004 event follows the successful launch of the LinuxUser & Developer Expo – the Linux Zone by Horsepower Media, at the Networks for Business June 2003 event. Over 5,000 visitors attended the 2003 show with 95% involved in purchasing for their business and 70% at manager or director level. The 2003 conference programme was a sell-out success.
