MIS Plain’s new Reporting Services Integration simplifies the process of publishing reports to the Web

London, England, January 29, 2004 – Analyses and reports are now easier than ever to publish on the Web. MIS Plain provides an intuitive, flexible environment for planning, reporting, and analyzing data. Users can browse their data, by means of simple drag and drop actions, and then publish the reports they create to Reporting Services in just a few mouse clicks. These reports and analyses can subsequently be displayed in a Web browser or in various formats, such as Excel, Word, or Acrobat. MIS Plain owes its user friendliness to its integration in Microsoft Excel – a familiar tool for business users in almost every enterprise.

According to Thomas Rizzo, Director of Product Management for Microsoft SQL Server "MIS Plain, combined with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services, provides a comprehensive BI solution that enables timely, more informed decisions."

MIS Plain, developed by Darmstadt (Germany) based MIS AG, is one of the first products to support Reporting Services. MIS Plain’s integration with Reporting Services gives users the full benefit of the Microsoft platform's collaboration and workflow functionality. Reports like a list of "top 50 customers" can created quickly, easily, and without programming using MIS Plain’s graphical user interface and wizards. The reports can then be distributed throughout the enterprise, via Reporting Services. Benefits of leveraging Reporting Services infrastructure include scalability, multiple rendering formats, on-demand and subscription-based delivery, extensibility, role-based security architecture, and report management functionality.

"By integrating MIS Plain with Reporting Services, we can now bring business intelligence to every single desktop enterprise-wide", says Stefan Sexl, General Manager MIS GmbH.

A key aspect of MIS Plain’s integration with Reporting Services is the production and consumption of XML-based RDL (Report Definition Language). When a MIS Plain user saves a view to the Report Server, the appropriate RDL is generated and sent to the Report Server, using its Web service Application Programming Interface (API). RDL has been received with enthusiasm by the ISV community, facilitating interoperability among different applications.
