The new platform features SonicWALL’s easy-to-use Global VPN Client integrated with its new Distributed Security Client, a managed client firewall.
The distributed enforcement architecture is the security foundation for SonicWALL’s customers. It provides customers with an integrated solution of appliances, services and software clients to give IT administrators a single, easy-to-manage security architecture for corporate networks. The Global Security Client platform augments the architecture with gateway-managed firewall policies and application security for remote and mobile workers.
According to Infonetics Research, the percentage mobile workers in North America using VPNs is expected to grow from 59% in 2003 to 74% in 2005.* Most businesses today recognize the importance of enabling network access to employees on the road while maintaining a high level of security for the corporate network. Mobile workers need to check e-mail, retrieve files stored on the network and access Intranets and Extranets. Concurrently, any software upgrades to the Global Security Client itself are also instantaneously updated.
Using SonicWALL’s easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use interface, employees and network resources can be segmented into groups and assigned specific policies for Internet use and network access by individual user. With the Global Security Client, the distributed enforcement architecture can control not just networks of security appliances but the mobile workers accessing the system.
Additionally, businesses can save themselves from exposure to dynamic security risks, such as worm outbreaks that target open ports. All Global Security Clients can be ordered to immediately block the targeted ports to prevent infestation and further propagation of the worm.
