Having just completed the structured cabling installation at Keele University's prestigious new medical school, leading manufacturer Krone and installation company Servo are two of the sponsors for Networkshop 32, the annual conference of the UK academic community's network managers and technical staff.

Networkshop 32 is the 32nd gathering of the JANET community which includes almost all publicly funded academic and research organisations. The conference and exhibition is organised by UKERNA® which manages JANET® - the UK's education and research ICT network (funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee of the further and higher education funding councils).

The three day conference, April 6th to 8th, enables the networking specialists in academia to discuss forward plans for their network (thought to be the UK's largest IP network) and to learn about new technologies and their implementation. One of these new technology sessions in the exhibitor's presentations will be a paper by Krone's Keith Ford reporting on the worldwide progress in enterprise cabling infrastructures, particularly standards for "10 Gigabit/s Ethernet over copper" where Krone has recently announced a world first 10 Gigabit capable UTP cable concept.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Servo and Krone are providing the voice and data cabling throughout the Networkshop 32 exhibition using Krone's PremisNET® structured cabling solution with harsh environment cable from Krone's new IP-rated Industrial portfolio for the external links.

Keele University's new medical school has been built with the aim of having up to 600 new doctors in training on five year courses at any one time and has already seen the launch of three new multi-disciplinary research institutes within the Faculty of Health. The whole building has been equipped with a fully component compliant Krone PremisNET Category 6 structured cabling system installed and project managed by Servo - capable of delivering Gigabit connectivity to every desktop and work area.
