On Thursday March 18, at 10am, there will be a holographic live interview from the CeBIT exhibition (Hanover, Germany) to Dubai Internet City (DIC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Images will be beamed live from the show, in 3D, to Dubai, where they will be watched by Dubai’s royal family and by selected representatives from companies already located within DIC. The link is designed to demonstrate the high speed, high capacity Internet capabilities of DIC, unrivalled in Europe. Dr. Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO, and, security permitting, His Highness Sheik Maktoum, Dubai’s crown prince, will participate. Technology at CeBIT cannot facilitate a simultaneous showing, so a 2D image will be sent back, showing what can be seen in Dubai.

DIC offers a strategic base for companies targeting emerging markets in the region around Dubai. Foreign companies benefit from 100% tax-free ownership, 100% repatriation of capital and profits, no currency restrictions, easy registration and licensing, stringent cyber regulations, protection of intellectual property. DIC provides an environment that attracts each and every element of the value chain for an ICT business into the community. In addition, it has developed programs that can be leveraged by the ICT community to explore and expand channel development opportunities.

Dubai is the base for a vast region extending from the Middle East to the Indian subcontinent, and Africa to the CIS countries, covering 1.8 billion people with GDP $ 1.6 trillion – and experiencing exponential growth. DIC provides a scalable state-of-the-art technology platform which allows companies looking to provide cost effective business process outsourcing (BPO) services such as call center operations. It boasts the Middle East's biggest IT infrastructure, built inside a free trade zone, and has the largest commercial Internet Protocol Telephony system in the world.

Around 30 per cent of existing companies in the Dubai Internet City community are from Europe. Within a short span of time, a dynamic international community of over 600 ICT companies has established itself in Dubai Internet City. Global ICT already there include: Microsoft, Oracle, HP, IBM, Compaq, Dell, Siemens, Canon, Logica, Sony Ericsson and Cisco. The cluster of ICT companies within Dubai Internet City includes Software Development, Business Services, Web Based & e-Commerce, Consultancy, Education & Training, Sales & Marketing and Back Office Operations.
