Maintains Application Performance

Welwyn Garden City, Herts 11th March, 2004 — Itheon, automated high availability specialists for IT Infrastructures, today announced a strategic relationship with Qospel, a service company that specialises in Network Congestion Management.

Qospel's consultative services offering manipulates network data flows using a tailored blend of traffic engineering techniques including prioritising and compression. The Qospel service utilises Itheon's Quality of Service (iAM:QoS) module, which monitors the response times of IT Business Services, sending alerts when performance is poor or non-existent, and giving key metrics to ensure SLA compliance. Qospel closes the loop by fixing the network loading problems highlighted by iAM:QoS.

"The service from Qospel allows us to offer our customers a solution that profoundly influences network traffic flows". Said Frank Puranik, Itheon's Development Director "Itheon's proactive monitoring and management of IT Business services now has the final piece of the jigsaw for our customers. We believe that Quality of Experience can now be assured."

Business Case
Poor end-to-end performance in any transaction based business service causes potential loss of productivity and profit. Monitoring the availability of individual infrastructure elements shows only part of the picture. Overloaded servers, applications, networks or Internet Service Provider links can seriously affect the performance of a service.

End-users form an opinion of a business or service based on their own experience. It is essential that companies and service providers know how their business services perform end-to-end from the customers perspective. Qospel's congestion management service working alongside Itheon Availability Manager gives this end-to-end performance management.

Itheon Availability Manager (iAM) provides individually customised solutions for all types of high availability by knowing every customer's experience in terms of speed, availability and usability. iAM helps the enterprise understand critical success factors for optimum customer perspective performance, resolving performance issues and linking poor performance to problems with the underlying technologies, be they network, systems, applications or external factors.

“Qospel’s new relationship with Itheon complements the Itheon Availability Management suite capabilities by actually fixing customer’s performance problems” says Chris Thomas, Qospel’s Service Delivery Director.
