Have you ever wondered who Toni&Guy really are?

Well, they’re two of five brothers who turned a family talent into an international hairdressing phenomenon.

The history of how the brothers created one of the world’s fastest growing fashion empires has been captured in a fascinating new book ‘The Birth of Toni&Guy.’

The book is full of interesting tales of how:

• A special celebration was held the first time income exceeded £100 in a single day.
• Electricity was rationed in 1973 and whilst hairdryers whined to a halt in salons throughout London, the Toni&Guy salon kept functioning due to their father’s experiences in Italy where power cuts were a common occurrence. The brothers had learned a number of drying and styling techniques from him which ensured that the salon not only survived but emerged stronger for the experience
• School friend Leslie Ash (now the famous TV star) asked the youngest brother Anthony to cut her hair. He had never picked up a pair of scissors before, but managed to cut a perfect bob. Anthony later went onto win the accolade of British Hairdresser of the Year, not once but three times.

More than 40 years on, Toni&Guy salons can be found in every continent with training academies throughout the world.

The Birth of Toni & Guy is available through Toni&Guy salons and all good bookshops priced £19.99.
