Authority also to save time and space with TRIM Context from TOWER Software

Following the success of a small-scale pilot scheme, Devon County Council has ordered an electronic document and records management solution from TOWER Software. The TRIM Context system will initially be rolled out to 70 users across four of the authority’s directorates: resources; environmental services; education, arts and libraries; and social services. Over the next 12 months, TRIM Context will undergo further testing, including integration with the authority’s line-of-business applications and web content management applications.

“Feedback to date from the pilot scheme has been extremely good,” explains Richard Maynard, IT Project Manager at Devon Council. “We had already identified the obvious savings on employee time and physical space. As hoped, the users themselves also commented on the system’s ease of use, and the new ability to retrieve information instantly. This is a huge advantage for customer facing employees who had previously been forced to leave the phone to research an enquiry, or call customers back later with the appropriate resolution.”

For example, a single planning application file may involve dozens of letters, emails, images and technical drawings.
