As Easter draws near, Petplan, the UK’s largest pet insurance provider, has revealed the country’s most popular rabbit names.

Although some owners are becoming slightly more outlandish when it comes to naming their rabbits, that old favourite, Thumper remains at the top of the list, closely followed by Flopsy and Daisy.

The popularity of owning rabbits has increased dramatically over the last few years – and with approximately two million rabbits in the UK today, they are the third most popular household pet.

But they can be costly companions especially if they require veterinary treatment, as the owners of Smokey, a two year old Netherland Dwarf bunny, discovered. At the age of two years old, Smokey developed a urinary problem, which made it difficult for him to control his bladder. Thankfully, Smokey was insured with Petplan who footed the bill!

From as little as £5.95* a month the plan covers vets’ bills up to £2,000 every year, insuring you and your bunny will never be caught on the hop. As with Petplan’s dog and cat policies, rabbits are ‘Covered for Life’, unlike most other pet insurers, who restrict cover to just 12 months per condition.

The Top 10 Names are
1. Thumper
2. Flopsy
3. Daisy
4. Fudge
5. Molly
6. Poppy
7. Smudge
8. Charlie
9. Sooty
10. Honey
