Thame, UK (7th April 2004) Internet Awareness and Advisory Foundation (IAAF) announced today the appointment of information security industry specialist Nigel Farnfield as Treasurer. Mr Farnfield is currently CEO of CyberSafe Limited, a UK based software security vendor, but originally trained as an accountant.

Mr Farnfield brings with him a wealth of business and system knowledge covering 20 years of financial experience in Europe and America and systems and operational experience across a wide range of industries. He has continually used his business acumen to re-shape and turn around companies in roles ranging from European Finance and Commercial Director to Chief Operating Officer.

"We continue to see initiatives to keep our children accident free, but very little is being done about their mental and psychological welfare," comments Nigel Farnfield. "Our work at the IAAF brings all areas of our children's protection together, within one, focussed, committed organisation. Together with Government and Industry we can make a real difference to our young people, allowing them to benefit safely from the huge advances in technology we present them with."

Mr Farnfield will also be taking an active role in the IAAF education programme, visiting schools to talk to both parents and children about the dangers that the Internet can pose and how to deal with them practically and effectively. In addition to assisting the IAAF, in his spare time Mr Farnfield takes an active role as a Senior Club Coach for British Gymnastics and has been recently appointed Child welfare and protection officer for 2 clubs in the south of England. He is married and has 5 children.

Dr Paul Adams-Meconi, CEO of the IAAF says, “We are delighted to welcome Nigel onto the board of the IAAF. His experience and knowledge of the security industry and the financial advice he is able to provide to the board will be of great benefit to the IAAF.”
