EMBARGO - NOT FOR PUBLICATION BEFORE 00.01 HOURS ON 21 APRIL 2004

London, UK - 21st April 2004 - The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation Category has this year been conferred on ProCheckUp, a leader in IT security, for the development of its unique ProCheckNet service which mimics the actions of sophisticated hackers in order to help secure the IT systems of businesses.

The Queen’s Award for Innovation 2004 recognises the achievement of ProCheckUp’s unique ProCheckNet security services. ProCheckNet is a highly innovative technology used in the field of penetration testing, a service that locates vulnerabilities that may be used by hackers. It incorporates an artificial intelligence engine to perform security assessments on complex IT infrastructure, web sites and applications more comprehensively and more effectively than the traditional manual methods.

Formed in 2000, ProCheckUp are approved suppliers to some of the world's leading financial and banking organisations, top law firms and FTSE 500 companies. Sales & Marketing Director Tim Parker said: “ProCheckNet is a unique technology that has allowed us to offer fully exploitative penetration testing as a managed security service, something that no other organisation has been able to achieve. We are delighted to accept this award and it is a tribute to all of our employees who are committed to the success of both our clients and our company by delivering value through a truly best of breed security service”.

“This really is a tremendous honour for us,” added Technical Director, Richard Brain who originally conceived and designed the ProCheckNet technology. “I am very proud of the achievement that ProCheckUp have made with this technology in such a short period of time. It represents years of hard work not just for myself, but also for the whole of the business. We also believe that this technology may be one of the first commercially viable uses of artificial intelligence”.

The assessment procedure is extremely thorough and competition is fierce for The Awards, which are made by The Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister, assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government and Industry.

Announced on the Queen’s birthday, The Awards are bestowed for five years and will be presented during a ceremony at ProCheckUp’s offices in London. Later this year ProCheckUp will be invited to a reception given by The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
