London, 14th April 2004 - The forthcoming Telecom Video Europe event (www.scievents.com/telecomvideo) which takes place May 17-19 2004 in Brussels, Belgium is gearing up toward a key event for strategists in the emerging triple play opportunity for telecom players in Europe.

Already hosted for the past three years in the United States, the forum offers a European platform for learning and debate to consider the technical, strategic and market implications of the imminent changes and emergence of triple play strategies, confronting telecom operators, suppliers and regulators.

Key decisions facing these players include selecting the right network architecture within the framework of an array of standards, incorporating VOD, DVR, PPV and IPTV into existing offerings and pricing them competitively, bundling services and service differentiation to build brand loyalty.

Case studies will provide evidence of the changes occurring now. As part of Agder Energi, Ella Communications is one of Norway's largest power companies that are building a fiber based network for delivering enhanced broadband services, including VOD, gaming and localized content to the business and consumer market. Other examples will be delivered throughout the event.

Telecom Video Europe is supported by a wealth of expertise from leading industry players including Alcatel (www.alcatel.com) Cisco (www.cisco.com) Net to Net Technologies (www.nettonet.com) Siemens (www.siemens.com) Bitband (www.bitband.com) Thomson (www.thomson.net) Allied Telesyn (www.alliedtelesyn.com) Microsoft TV (www.microsoft.com/tv) iCube (www.icube.com) ECI Telecom (www.ecitelec.com) and NDS (www.nds.com) who are among the contributors to the extensive 3-day programme.

The event has also received substantial endorsement by industry bodies and organisations including Eurescom (www.eurescom.de) The European Television Guild (www.inviewmedia.com) the Broadband Content Delivery Forum (www.bcdforum.org) and the MPEG Industry Forum.

“As the second Telecom Video forum to take place in Europe, the event is a major gathering of businesses involved in the content delivery arena, and this year will be exceptional because of the sheer range and depth of expertise and number of attendees joining us in Brussels over the three days”, commented Carolyn Herr, Event Director.

Delegates will also receive a complimentary mini-version of the new report from Screen Digest: IP-television: the emergence of a new TV platform in Europe.
