WStore, the leading online supplier of business IT equipment, has developed a software tool to speed up and simplify the process of buying servers for Small to Medium Businesses (SMBs). Named the Server Configurator, the tool guides the customer into making an informed decision.
The tool was developed in-house by WStore and enables the end user business to request a tailored configuration of an HP server, with only a basic knowledge of what they are looking for. The user simply enters their requirements into the system and an exact quotation is prepared, which is loaded onto the customer's account for them to view.
Buying servers for the non-technical user can often be confusing when choosing from a vast array of part numbers and model names. WStore has identified this and has developed the tool to remove the complexity from making such purchases.
The Server Configurator is intended to meet the needs of WStore's SMB customer base who often request servers of a specific type, while not giving the exact requirements. Kate Hembury, WStore sales director, said: "It meets the needs of customers who understand that they need a server, but don't have the technical knowledge to make an informed decision, and so require guidance."
She added: "Typically our customers have 5-99 users. Sometimes they are using a server-based network for the first time and sometimes they are upgrading a small network they didn't install themselves. Our customers have some form of installed technical base which has found a need, but without knowing the technical specifications of the server, they face a potentially bewildering array of options."
