Press release

29 April 2004

Evolved Networks, the developer of software tools that enable telecoms operators to automate management of the access network, today announced its technology roadmap for its latest leading-edge tools. Evolved Networks will launch the first of these tools at TeleManagement World (booth 52) in Nice (May 17 – 20, 2004).

Evolved Networks is developing tools that will allow operators to take control of their access networks in a similar manner to the way they already control their core networks.

Chris Sharpe, chief operations officer at Evolved Networks, said: “Traditional OSS solutions for network management have been focused around the core of a network, but in order to get the most of existing resources and allow new services, operators are going to need a revolution for access network management. At the moment you have a ridiculous situation that carriers don’t know what they own, where they have it or even whether they are capable of providing new services in a given location! That’s why we are putting the access network first with our new tools.”

Evolved Networks’ axcessfirst product suite targets access network operators with solutions for planning and designing fibre and copper access networks, provisioning access network services as well as migrating data from legacy systems to new inventory databases.

The axcessfirst product set is designed to support an operator’s strategic objectives and offer competitive advantage through:
· Increasing revenues through improved speed to market
· Increasing customer retention through improved quality of service
· Reducing capital and operational expenditure
· Increasing operating efficiencies
· Enforcing best practices
· Increasing visibility of access network changes and management control
