Internet users in Belgium, Holland and Spain can now join over 2.5 million Britons and become the proud owners of a Weemee avatar, thanks to a deal between Saw-You, creators of the Weemee system and Microsoft's MSN network.

Weemee's are unique and highly customisable avatars that can made to look just like the person who created them and then used in hundreds of different ways across the Internet and on mobile phones. The deal with MSN allows Weemee owners to create and use their images on version 6.0 and above of the enormously popular 'MSN Messenger' program, which is used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

Over 2.5 million Weemee's have been created in the UK alone, since the service was launched on MSN in the United Kingdom in January 2004. With Weemee's now available in another three countries, the company is predicting over 5 million Weemee's will exist by mid-2004.

Users can create their Weemee's free of charge, but pay £1.50 to download their completed Weemee for use on MSN Messenger, as a picture message or as wallpaper on their mobile phone. Weemee's can be customised to reflect their owners features, hairstyles, clothing, hobbies – even their choice of beverage.

In addition to looking extremely cool, Weemee's are the heart of a sophisticated community and messaging service that allows Weemee owners to find others and exchange messages based on preferred locations such as pubs, clubs, universities and other venues in each user's vicinity.

“Weemee's have been picked up by Internet and mobile phone users as a fun and useful service for their online and mobile lives,” says Mike Kinsella, the chief executive officer and founder of Saw-You. “People don't necessarily want to use pictures of themselves online, for reasons of security, self-conciousness and convenience. Creating a Weemee is fun in itself and allows people to show themselves online without any of the worries of using pictures. We are absolutely delighted to have Weemee's now available through MSN to users in Belgium, Holland and Spain and we would like to welcome their users to the Weemee family.”
