SafeNet Luna SA Hardware Security Module Supports Oracle® Database 10g

SafeNet (NASDAQ: SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced that SafeNet Luna SA, a Network-attached Hardware Security Module (HSM), supports Oracle® (Nasdaq: ORCL) Database10g to provide hardware security and SSL acceleration for enterprise grid computing.

Grid computing reduces IT costs and management time by clustering servers together to act as a single large computer, shifting resources dynamically between applications. Oracle Grid Computing enables systems of interconnected servers, storage and software to adapt to the exact needs of one's business, resulting in improved IT resource utilisation. Grid computing is more secure than multiple disparate servers because uniform security procedures are applied to each machine in the system and the grid will only function if each server's credentials are verified. Integrating the Luna SA hardware security module with Oracle Database 10g protects the encryption keys that are used to secure and verify each machine's credentials.

"We are a leader in secure computing and it is important to have partners, like SafeNet, to further extend that across hardware systems," said Bronwyn Hastings, vice president, worldwide alliances and channels, Oracle Corp. "SafeNet's Luna products will enable our customers to enhance the computing advantages they are experiencing with Oracle grid technology."

SafeNet's Luna SA is the first network HSM that provides shared encryption services over a TCP/IP network, dramatically lowering the total cost of deployment and ownership. The network-sharable Luna SA maintains unparalleled levels of security for sensitive encryption data, and has been validated to stringent FIPS 140-2, Level 3 standards. The Luna SA also improves performance with SSL acceleration and can be configured for up to 3,600 1024-bit RSA signings per second. Additionally, the Luna SA can be easily partitioned into multiple virtual HSMs to support independent applications.

"Enterprises are deploying grid computing environments for the flexibility, performance and security they deliver utilising Oracle Grid Computing. The SafeNet Luna SA helps address the unique security challenges raised in grid computing environments by protecting the system credentials while being cost-effective, easy to deploy and highly scalable," said Randy Kun, director of Luna product management for SafeNet's Enterprise Security Division. "We're very pleased to be a partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, working with Oracle to provide hardware security solutions to our joint customers for secure grid computing capabilities."
