An innovative breakthrough in CD-ROM technology by Freestyle New Media Group is helping Land Rover's Armoured Vehicle Sales Division to target its customers with new levels of personalised marketing communication.

Freestyle’s new content management system (CMS) feature is called Firebox and was created specifically for a CD-ROM application.

It allows the user to write individual CD-ROMs for ‘named’ recipients; ‘burning’ only the number of units actually required. For Land Rover’s Global Armoured Vehicle Sales Division it means quick and easy preparation, updating and issue of the latest sales and marketing information – all in a high quality CD-ROM format.

The key benefit of Firebox’s facility to ‘customise, brand & burn’ CD-ROMs in one-offs and short-run batches ensures that individual customers need only receive a CD-ROM with content that is timely, tailored and targeted. Ease of use also means that production can be handled in-house.

Freestyle New Media Account Director Brendon Gill said:

"We believe Firebox is a big leap in digital innovation because it gives the CD-ROM all the information management flexibility and advantages of a powerful content management system. Instead of applying it in an online application like websites, we have given it a novel twist applying it to a rich-media CD-ROM format. This has not been done before."

Freestyle’s CD-ROM Firebox feature is also giving Land Rover’s Global Armoured Vehicle Sales division on-the-move presentation support. As well as the independence to give selected customers exactly the information they need to make an informed purchasing decision, Firebox also enables the user to create and run impressive video-enhanced sales presentations which can be rapidly changed and updated with the latest prices and technical specifications.

Brendon Gill added:

"Clients who are using it the sales and HR arenas are finding it a versatile and easy-to-use tool. It’s instantly updateable, unlike expensive printed marketing material. It has high quality production values, using video, for example, but most importantly gives true personalising capability for highly targeted campaigns."

Customers for Land Rover's armoured vehicles include members of the celebrity and show business worlds, along with blue chip companies, foreign governments and agencies and high-earning individuals.
