Cognito has been awarded a further contract by Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) to provide an extended mobile data service to the company’s nationwide service field force. It follows the successful roll-out of a managed mobile data service to some 200 Konica service technicians operating throughout the UK. Konica Minolta Business Solutions supplies and maintains a complete range of networkable copier/printers, M.F.P.’s and associated software solutions for business customers.
The second contract was awarded following the recent merger of Konica Business Machines (UK) and Minolta (UK) to form Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) as part of the global merger of all Konica and Minolta companies. The new agreement focuses on helping the former Minolta (UK) operation to benefit from Cognito’s fully managed mobile workflow solution.
“Our initial agreement with Cognito did not account for the merger and we needed to bring other areas of the new, enlarged business under the one umbrella,” explains Peter Margrave, Service Director at Konica Minolta. “The new agreement not only consolidates our field and call centre operations, but more importantly brings the benefits of our managed mobile data service to our new employees and new customers.”
The first contract was awarded to Cognito by Konica following a successful three month trial of the service. Konica chose Cognito originally because of the company’s proven track record and willingness to provide Konica with a completely tailored service.
“We have been extremely happy with the Cognito service which has already delivered benefits to the business in terms of improved performance, reduced costs and increased customer satisfaction,” adds Margrave. “Following the merger, it was a natural choice for us to extend such benefits to the Minolta operation, staff and customers.”
Since adopting the Cognito service, the former Konica Business Machines operation experienced a significant reduction of calls into call centres as well as other benefits. “Our aim was to reduce the number of unnecessary calls, which could clog up the system at peak times, whilst also improving the accuracy of information between field-based technicians and call centre staff,” explains Margrave.
The service has also provided the company with a range of other important features, such as a technician’s ability to check immediately on the availability of spare parts, record the amount of time spent on a particular job in real-time and use text messaging to convey information in a way that is less likely to be misinterpreted. “Cognito’s Formsplus service is particularly important because it means we can handle information in a more structured and logical format, rather than people using pen and paper,” adds Margrave.
The company is also using Cognito’s broadcast messaging service, which enables text messages to be sent from the office to groups of mobile and office-based personnel with no variable cost associated, to issue company information and update to technicians based in the field.
