Marathon Technologies Corporation and NOW Wireless Announce Partnership for Marathon Endurance® Virtual FTserver™
Boxborough, Mass., USA and London, U.K. (May 11, 2004) — Marathon Technologies Corporation, the world’s only developer of fault- and disaster-tolerant software solutions for Microsoft® Windows® environments, announced today that NOW Wireless will represent their products in the U.K. NOW Wireless will promote, sell and service the Marathon Endurance® Virtual FTserver™ software product line. Sales began the second half of March 2004.
Marathon Endurance® Virtual FTserver™ (hereafter Endurance) software enables fault- and disaster-tolerant Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 solutions at a price point that is significantly lower than any other available solution today. Marathon’s new offering, which runs on standard Intel Pentium 4 Uniprocessors supporting Hyper-Threading Technology, dramatically lowers the entry price point for fault- and disaster-tolerant Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 based server systems. Available within 45 days, with complete, ready to run configurations starting at €13,495 Euros and UK £8,995, customers with Intel® Architecture environments who have not been able to take advantage of continuous server technology uptime advances now have that option. In addition, protecting servers with Endurance software also dramatically reduces total cost of server ownership, including daily system operation, maintenance, management and overall busines
s workflow protection.
“By choosing NOW Wireless as a strategic selling partner in The U.K., we are able to offer Marathon’s Endurance® Virtual FTserver™ continuous server uptime to customers combined with the specific technology and service know-how that NOW Wireless has developed over years of cooperation with Marathon” said George C. Tranos, President and CEO of Marathon Technologies.
“This release of Endurance Virtual FTserver represents a bold move on Marathon’s part to enable fault- and disaster tolerant computing for the majority of businesses. We are delighted to represent Marathon in the U.K. and offer our customers solutions that will ensure their business continuity”said Brian Jackson, Managing Director of NOW Wireless.
The continuous server solution addresses today’s business requirement that systems and applications run stably and without interruption 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Fault tolerance and reliability are superior to that achieved with clusters. In the event of hardware failure, applications continue processing transparent to the user virtually eliminating interruption while protecting data integrity. Standard applications that are not cluster-interactive can be run easily in a high reliability environment. The Marathon based solution is entirely implemented in software negating the requirement for dedicated proprietary hardware traditionally required to implement a fault tolerant server.
