New Web Application Delivery Platform Automatically Secures Access to Web Versions of PeopleSoft, SAP, Siebel and Custom Portals


Redline Networks (www.redlinenetworks.com) today announced E|X 3670, the first Web-enabled application delivery platform to deliver more than 10,000 new SSL (secure sockets layer) connections per second, supporting even the largest transaction-oriented Web sites, enterprise portals and web applications. The E|X 3670 doubles the SSL throughput rate of previous Redline units by accelerating and offloading bulk encryption and compression, which is necessary for maintaining high throughput and secure remote access connections.

The E|X 3670 is the newest member of Redline's E|X family of enterprise application processors to address the emerging need of enterprises to secure web traffic without compromising user performance, and to secure applications without the large development effort required to rewrite HTTP applications as secure HTTPS applications. The E|X 3670 appliance also has the unique ability to intelligently determine whether ‘legitimate’ HTTP requests form part of a denial-of-service attack by assigning a legitimacy weighting to each different request based on its network behaviour.

Establishing a secure (SSL) connection and encrypting data transfers is processor-intensive, making it unfeasible to SSL-secure all site traffic, and the added latency often frustrates users to the point of abandoning SSL-secured applications. Redline's 'Auto SSL' capability, a function of Redline’s OverDrive control environment, transparently rewrites user requests and responses on the fly so that browsers automatically ask for secure content without modification of the backend application.
