June 17 2004: Intec Telecom Systems, a global provider of operations support systems (OSS) for the communications industry, today announced that Energis, a leading UK provider of high value telecoms and internet services, has successfully deployed Intec’s Inter-mediatE product for convergent billing of voice and data services in both fixed and wireless environments. Inter-mediatE replaced Energis’ existing legacy mediation platform with a flexible convergent solution that can collect, filter, aggregate and process data from the company’s network to produce complete and accurate data for billing and other systems. Among the business advantages of the installation are enhanced revenue assurance controls, greater flexibility and speed for new product rollouts and improved supplier support.

“Intec’s Inter-mediatE platform provides Energis with markedly improved carrier-grade support and greater product functionality for today’s competitive market,” explains Gareth Rees, IT Program Manager at Energis. “Some of the key benefits of Inter-mediatE include improved revenue assurance audit capabilities, which are gained by using the platform to automatically and accurately distribute call data to both retail and wholesale billing applications as well as fraud management and reporting systems. Inter-mediatE also improves time-to-market cycles for new services, which is essential to staying ahead of competition.”
Inter-mediatE provides a harmonised, fully convergent mediation solution across Energis’ network, enabling the company to easily implement, manage, charge and bill for data and voice services- leading to greater profitability and quality of service. In addition, the real-time charging capability of the platform can be used to accelerate the rollout of future value-added, non-switched based services such as IP telephony, media streaming and corporate Internet solutions.
“The successful implementation of Inter-mediatE at Energis is further testament to Intec’s leadership in the global convergent mediation market,” said Kevin Adams, Intec’s CEO. “Energis should expect sustained revenue generation and overall cost-savings from Inter-mediatE as it prepares to roll out advanced new services. This is due to Inter-mediatE’s advanced mediation technology, which enables the application to seamlessly handle any existing and future billing challenge, regardless of the type of service Energis plans to launch. ”
As one of the world’s leading mediation solutions, Inter-mediatE offers a range of funcationality that is second to none in the OSS market. This includes flexibility to capture usage and event data from multiple network elements, such as charging gateways, routers, access servers, web servers and applications, and across all product types. This provides Energis with greater choices to drive services and maximise revenue generation in the future.
