London, 23 June 2004 — D-Link, the leading manufacturer of networking solutions to the SOHO, SMB and Enterprise environments is launching its new 802.11a/b/g Tri-Mode Dualband Wireless Access Point. The latest edition to the AirPremier AG series, the DWL-7100AP supports transfer rates up to an unprecedented 108Mbps in the 2.4GHz frequency band, and can provide wireless access to hundreds of simultaneous clients via its 19 non-overlapping channels.

Designed for schools, offices or public hotspot usage, the DWL-7100AP also operates in the 5GHz frequency band, offering less possibility of interference with other devices on the 2.4GHz frequency and enabling greater network management of users according to band segmentation. This optimises the AP’s performance thereby delivering the best network experience to each set of users.

"The DWL-7100AP is a very cost-effective way of expanding an existing network, protecting the investments already made in wireless networking convenience. Its dualband, tri-mode functionality enables extremely rapid connection speeds as well as greater flexibility and ease of management for network administrators," said Tahira Perveen, Country Sales Manager, D-Link, UK and Ireland.

The DWL-7100AP shares the same easy-installation features as the rest of the D-Link enterprise wireless product range, while achieving five times the performance of previous devices. Security features on the device are comprehensive and include WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), RADIUS client, Cipher negotiation and AES support as well as 802.1x and 152-bit WEP.

The DWL-7100AP has a recommended retail price (excl. VAT) of £200 and will be available from the end of June 2004.
