London 23 June 2004 - Innovative pharmaceutical specialist Medeus Pharma announced today it has outsourced its European network management to pan-European broadband networking company Easynet. Medeus Pharma will use Easynet's high capacity broadband infrastructure for the rapid transmission of information between its six offices across Europe, including those in the UK, France, Spain, and Germany, and solve strategic IT issues.

Medeus Pharma's IT department was working to full capacity, managing the transition of over 220 employees to a new business model. The bespoke solution proposed was to outsource the management of the wide area network to Easynet. This leaves the IT department free to concentrate on core activities rather than the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of this infrastructure. Easynet worked closely with Medeus Pharma to develop a solution which exactly matched its technical and commercial requirements, and saved the organisation significant time and money.

The pharmaceutical specialist now benefits from a resilient, high bandwidth infrastructure with intrinsic flexibility and scalability. This ensures the secure and reliable transmission of information and scales readily for their planned expansion.

Nigel Parry, IT Director, Medeus Pharma, said: "When we acquired the European Operations of Elan Pharmaceuticals it was a "carve out" from a large, global organisation and resulted in a fragmented infrastructure. Presented with an aggressive three-month deadline to deliver cohesive ERP and messaging systems we defined adaptability, responsiveness, technical expertise, and a single point of contact as the key requirements for success. With only a couple of very minor teething problems, this is exactly what Easynet have delivered".

David Rowe, Chief Executive Officer, Easynet, said: "Increasingly, we are working with organisations such as Medeus Pharma, to help solve strategic business issues such as the integration of systems and staff following acquisitions. Outsourcing network management gives businesses strategic flexibility, complete peace of mind, the benefits of a world-class network and major cost savings. Medeus Pharma is in an ideal position to benefit from our sophisticated pan-European broadband network, and we're delighted to be able to remove their IT headaches."
