Over 400 delegates were attracted to the recent case-study-led events, organised by Version One.

Together with representatives from BACS, they discussed BACSTEL-IP, the new platform that replaces the BACSTEL service in 2005. All organisations that use BACS must migrate to the new BACSTEL-IP system by this deadline, as support for the current BACS software will cease after this date. They highlighted the industry concern that inevitably there will not be enough resource to meet the demand if organisations do not plan to complete their migration well before the deadline.

According to Mike Hutchinson, BACSTEL-IP marketing manager,
“The deadline to move to BACSTEL-IP is December 2005, however, because of the increased functionality and additional benefits offered by the new BACSTEL-IP, it makes sound business sense to migrate as soon as possible”.

Catherine Murphy, Version One marketing manager added “Many organisations could be putting themselves at risk; they need a clear plan to complete their migration to BACSTEL-IP well before the end of 2005. The deadline for companies using the X400 service to migrate to BACSTEL-IP is the end of March 2005. If businesses leave it until the last minute they run the risk of being unable to pay staff and suppliers.”
