July1 2004 marks the merger of Kairon with Iconium, both young and dynamic companies with information management products and services. The two companies now combine to form a strong web based information management solutions provider, with particular expertise in information presentation and security.
Kairon Limited, established in 1993, specialised in design, implementation and support of management information systems that enable organisations to make more informed business decisions. Kairon’s customers include such companies as Tesco, Toyota, Reuters, Nationwide and Body Shop.
Kairon’s Managing Director, Rupert Cavendish, is to become Chief Operating Officer of Iconium. In this role, he will be responsible for the smooth integration of the two companies into the expanded Iconium. He will continue to manage the Kairon business, which will now operate as the Information Management Services (IMS) Division of Iconium Limited.
Prior to the merger, Iconium specialised in the development and marketing of web based security solutions for managing, securing and monitoring all components of enterprise computing infrastructures. The traditional Iconium business will now form the Information Management Security (IMS) Division. Customers include Legal & General, Royal Sun Alliance and Liberty International.
John Potter, previously Iconium’s Managing Director will be Chief Executive of the merged enterprise.
Robin Laidlaw, who is continuing as Chairman of the Company believes that the merger marks a significant step for both companies and puts them firmly on the road to being a major UK software solutions supplier. He comments, “At the core of every business is their information. It is their lifeblood. But the more intelligence they can gain from it, the more competitive edge they have and thus the more invaluable it becomes.”
“In simple terms, this merger brings together two successful arms of information management, on one side, IMS (Kairon) which enhances the value of corporate information and ISM (Iconium), which provides the operational information security needed to protect that information. We believe it is a winning formula.” Adds Laidlaw.
Iconium’s mission is to be a recognised leader in the development and provision of comprehensive information management services that ensure customer information security, integrity and give competitive advantage. In doing this, the company’s corporate philosophy has been to work in partnership with key business clients to ensure that new product developments and enhancements are closely aligned to deliver cost effective solutions for real business issues. This strategy has worked well for Iconium as proven by the household names on its customer list, and will be its continued method of operation.
Toby Waldock, Iconium’s Business Development Director, states: “ we are committed to an ambitious mission which means that further mergers are not out of the question”.
All Iconium products are designed to aid compliance with ISO-17799, the international standard for Information Security Management.
