…Multimedia Research Group’s 2004 Global IP/Broadband Video puts Kasenna as leading European VoD market and as strongest VoD system company globally…

London, UK – June 29th, 2004 – Kasenna, the leader in broadband video network systems, has announced that Multimedia Research Group (MRG) has confirmed its global market leadership in IP TV video on demand (VOD) systems. Based on the number of active subscribers, the report also highlights that through its deployment with FastWeb (which at more than 110,000 subscribers is one of Europe’s two largest VOD deployments); Kasenna is the leading player in the European market with strong growth prospects.

The MRG Market Leaders Report, April 2004 shows that Kasenna leads a rapidly growing market by virtue of its VOD technology and deployments already deployed globally. “Kasenna has emerged as the VOD system company with the strongest prospects for growth worldwide,” said Bob Larribeau, senior analyst at MRG and co-author of the report. “Its modular architecture makes it attractive for VOD deployments, and it is the only company that we have identified deploying carrier VOD systems in North America.”

MRG forecasts strong growth for the VOD market in general, estimating that the total number of VOD subscribers worldwide will rise from 734,000 at the end of 2003 to 15.6 million at the end of 2007, a compound annual growth rate of 115 percent. In addition, the report estimates that VOD service revenues over the same period will rise from $398 million to $10.2 billion, a compound annual growth rate of 125 percent.

“This report confirms that Kasenna’s highly scalable systems can make money for carriers in any market serving subscriber bases of all sizes,” said Mark Gray, CEO and president of Kasenna. “From large carriers like FastWeb in Italy to independent telcos in North America with a few thousand subscribers, Kasenna provides quality, deployment flexibility, and a short path to profitability. We will continue to be the leading VOD partner for carriers worldwide as we enter a rapid growth phase for on-demand service adoption.”
