MXtreme betters CipherTrust with Common Criteria Certification, sophisticated anti-spam engines and advanced management/failover capabilities

DALLAS, TX and TORONTO, ON – July 6, 2004 – BorderWare Technologies Inc., today announced that Federal Computer Week (FCW), an IT publication focused on government IT buyers, rated MXtreme the most secure and best price-performance solution for email security in the July 5, 2004 issue. The review also gave high marks to BorderWare's MXtreme for its distinctive features over CipherTrust's IronMail including MXtreme's Common Criteria EAL4+ security certification, sophisticated anti-spam engines, and advanced management and failover capabilities.

FCW reviewer Andre Kvitka, principal of an information technology and web development company, praises MXtreme for its "host of e-mail perimeter security features, including antivirus protection, mail-encryption features and everything but the kitchen sink to combat spam." In addition he writes: "One of the major benefits of MXtreme is its reporting and auditing capabilities.... granular administration, allowing multiple administrators to control specific portions of the appliance… [and] another plus for MXtreme is its failover capabilities. This is a tremendous advantage for agencies where e-mail communication is of paramount importance."

When compared to CipherTrust, Kvitka writes: "BorderWare and CipherTrust excelled in providing a feature-rich administration interface, customisable features, and extensive monitoring and reporting capabilities," and further states, "CipherTrust's product is the most expensive, but we found BorderWare's product just as capable at a fraction of the cost….”

"The bottom line is that MXtreme is reasonably priced considering the number of features and technology that are packed in this appliance. Also, its Common Criteria certification could be appealing for agencies requiring a high level of security."

"This recent coverage from FCW again confirms what customers are discovering each day about our products – MXtreme provides the most comprehensive approach to email security by incorporating best-of-breed technology with unmatched price performance," said John Alsop, CEO, BorderWare Technologies. "For any company that's looking for a perimeter email security solution, clearly, MXtreme should be on your evaluation shortlist."
