Response Source is established as major tool for UK journalists

Innovative journalists’ research service Response Source is this week celebrating helping journalists over 10,000 times since its launch.

The popularity of this unique service, which allows journalists to send free requests for information to PR professionals in specific fields, has established itself as a significant new weapon in the journalist’s research armoury.

Response Source (www.responsesource.com) was launched in September 2001 and quickly became popular with journalists from all types of media – national and local press, consumer magazines, broadcast and the trade press. As of today, a total of 10,779 enquiries have been processed since the launch. The number of enquiries processed by the system continues to increase and is now running at around 170 a week, a run-rate of nearly 9,000 a year.

Each journalist request posted through Response Source is sent by email to up to 3,000 PR professionals in relevant PR agencies and companies. That means the system is delivering an estimated ten million individual emails a year on behalf of journalists.

Response Source was launched by media information company Daryl Willcox Publishing after proving the concept in the technology sector on its SourceWire site (www.sourcewire.com) since 1998.
