Chiron Technology today announced that it is set to revolutionise the IP security industry following the launch of its IRIS product suite. Providing a cost-efficient and highly secure solution for European Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC), IRIS is a unique IP alarm transmission and monitoring system.
The IRIS system has been launched following a period of rigorous testing and offers multiple advantages over traditional monitoring systems.
The system allows legacy alarm panels to communicate over any IP network – ranging from ADSL to GPRS connections. Featuring a high level of authentication and encryption security, IRIS allows constant polling between an ARC and an alarm panel. Furthermore by utilising existing IP networks, ARC’s benefit from significant reductions in polling costs and alarm transmissions.
IRIS also provides ARCs with complete remote management of alarm systems with the capability to interface directly with a user’s internal database. It continuously monitors main and back-up communication routes and provides real-time line failure notification. All products in the IRIS range are easy to install and do not require specialist IP technical knowledge or installation equipment.
Speaking about the launch, Ian Tredinnick, Managing Director of Chiron Technology said: “As a long-standing player in the security communications industry, we have identified a need for a secure and reliable IP alarm monitoring system. Discussions with Manufacturers, Distributors and ARC’s across Europe have identified an increasing interest in IP networks for alarm alerting and monitoring. This is especially so since the successful introduction of broadband in many countries.”
Ian continued: “Although some IP solutions are starting to appear they are mostly linked to proprietary panels and need the installation of a new panel to operate. Chiron Identified that these were not satisfactory to most ARC’s as they wished to roll out IP services to existing users without the cost of a new panel.”
Following two years development Chirons’ Iris system offers a number of unique benefits. Including:-
Ability to ‘retro fit’ to most existing panels to allow alerting and polling across IP.
Highly secure polling and alert transmission with military standards of encryption
IP connections which can cope with most Firewalls and dynamic addressing networks, therefore Iris can work across most corporate networks, broadband and GPRS networks.
Dual Path Dialling across a number of networks including PSTN; ISDN; GSM and GPRS
Using VoIP technology, standard manufacturers management software can operate across the Iris system for ‘upload/download’.
Automatic rerouting of Polling and alerts to an ARC ‘Hot Standby Site’ in case of failure of main site.
IRIS meets the needs of both user and ARC by providing a complete IP monitoring solution. It gives user organisations a comprehensive polling solution and by utilising IP networks allows them to reap the benefits of substantial reductions in costs.
