New media agency Nemisys Enterprises has been awarded the contract to manage the implementation of the Bedfordshire Connexions partnership’s ICT services. The agency takes on responsibility for appointing internet, software, communications and hardware suppliers to the Bedfordshire branch of the government agency, which is bringing much of its operations in-house.

The contract is split into two distinct areas. Nemisys’ main role will be to help Connexions (Bedfordshire) migrate from an outsourced model to direct delivery. Currently services for young people are subcontracted to external agencies and most advisors work remotely. They are now to be employed directly by Connexions and based at five sites. Nemisys will be responsible for all ICT aspects including specifying and sourcing all hardware and software including: networking, IP phone systems, mobile and wireless communications, IT security and staff training. Nemisys will also be advising on the appropriate deployment of web technologies to improve service delivery for Connexions.

The second aspect of the contract involves appointing and project managing a specialist supplier to integrate and build a remote access Citrix solution into the Bedfordshire and Luton and Berkshire databases so that the counties’ many staff and advisors can share confidential records securely across the Internet.

Dr Mark Smith, chairman of Nemisys Enterprises said:

“We already work for the Children’s Fund and other organizations specializing in information provision to young people. The work with Bedfordshire Connexions brings another dimension to our client portfolio and illustrates how hands-on a dynamic new media consultancy can be.”
