Interactive Intelligence Inc. (Nasdaq: ININ), a global developer of business communications software, named Gary R. Blough its new worldwide executive vice president of sales.
Blough replaces Jeremiah J. Fleming, who was named president of Vonexus Inc., a wholly-owned Interactive Intelligence subsidiary formed earlier this month to distribute the company's IP PBX software.
As worldwide executive vice president of sales, Blough will be responsible for the company's 37 directly employed sales representatives, and will also help manage a global channel composed of approximately 140 value-added resellers located in more than 30 countries.
Blough previously held the role of Interactive Intelligence vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and had been area director and vice president of sales for Western U.S. and Latin America since joining the company in February 1997.
As Interactive Intelligence vice president of sales for EMEA, Blough helped to increase revenue by more than 100 percent. Blough also helped the company to better target its selling efforts and reorganize its European finance, marketing and support groups, which led to reduced expenditures and improved operational efficiencies throughout the region.
"Based on his excellent performance managing our sales in Europe for the last three years, we're confident that Gary has the necessary experience to significantly drive sales worldwide," said Interactive Intelligence president and chief executive officer, Dr. Donald E. Brown.
"My experience helping to build the channel in Europe, combined with the operational know-how I gained as a result of our European reorganization and previous experience with Interactive in the U.S., gives me an excellent foundation for my expanded responsibilities," Blough said.
Blough, who will relocate back to the U.S., assumed his new role July 1. He will continue to oversee EMEA operations until a successor is appointed.
