With a focus on all sports and all levels of participation, Sport One aims to encourage the development of UK sport by bringing together clubs, coaches and participants into one single online community

Sport One launched on 1st August, 2004 and aims to be the most comprehensive multi-sport community website in the UK. The website delivers sports news, sporting events and information across 100 specific sports and focus group areas. Members can access a comprehensive sports directory, events calendar and information resource. But, it is the online community tools that make Sport One unique.

Any UK sports club or team can build a free club website and all members get a free Sport One email account. Clubs are encouraged to enter their details onto the Sport One directory. They can add their own club events to the Sport One calendar and can submit club news and results to the Sport One articles and information resource. The whole site is designed to promote interaction amongst clubs, coaches, participants and general sports enthusiasts and over 100 discussion forums should aid this process.

Sport One is the brainchild of Brian Hudson and Luke Porter, both ex-international trampolinists, and was driven by the need to focus on all sports and all levels of participation, not just the top football, rugby and cricket teams. Says Brian Hudson, “I have always been frustrated by the slow development of British Sport, particularly those sports that are not high profile or professional sports. Sport One aims to get behind those people serving sport at grass roots and club level, empowering them with the tools and resources necessary to drive British sporting success in the future”.

Sport One provides those resources and much more. Sport One will also sell a range of sporting goods, equipment and services and have committed to channel 50% of all trading profits back into the creation and development of UK sporting facilities and coaching.

The Sport One website is a fantastic opportunity for sports lovers across the UK to get online and get actively involved in the promotion of their club and their sport. No other UK website offers such an exciting range of tools, resources and services and Sport One hope to see thousands of members join up through 2004.

What is Sport One all about?
Run by sports people for sports people, Sport One is an innovative and ambitious project aimed at driving up participation in sport and physical activity. Sport One will focus on grass roots sport, minor sports and focus groupings within sport, providing real benefit to those areas of UK sport that need it the most.

Sport One aims to create an interactive, online sports community, providing valuable content across all sports, serving the needs of sports clubs, participants, competitors, coaches, marshals, officials, judges, referees, students, parents, and sports fans throughout the UK. The website will provide comprehensive news, information and resources for over 100 sports and focus groups, not just mainstream sports.

Sport One has made a constitutional commitment to re-investing 50% of its trading profits into the creation of 'excellence enabling sporting facilities' within local communities, and to raising the standards of coaching in the UK to the extent of creating robust and sustainable career framework for professional coaching within non-professional sports.

Who are the key people involved?
Brian Hudson, Managing Director:
Sport One is the brainchild of Brian Hudson, a former international level trampolinist and current world record holder.
