MCSG provides BlackSpider Technologies MailControl to Global Network Operator

Hook, Hampshire (13th August 2004) – MCSG, a strategic business unit of HarrierZeuros, announced today that it has provided FLAG Telecom with a solution to afford even stronger protection against email spam and viruses, throughout the company’s IT infrastructure. By installing BlackSpider Technologies MailControl, MCSG has dramatically reduced the amount of time the FLAG in-house IT team needed to spend each day dealing with such attacks.

FLAG, like many large organisations, could see the detrimental effects on all areas of the business that the recent increases in spam could inflict and took proactive steps to further safeguard the company’s networks. The solution adopted needed to be cost-effective, highly resilient and easy to maintain.

“We could see the number of potential attacks on our IT network growing at an alarming rate and calculated that we were going to need an ever-increasing level of resource to keep on top of the rising tide of spam and viruses,” comments Michael Neve, IT Service Delivery Director FLAG Telecom.

“We went into the marketplace and researched available systems to help us guard against these attacks and MCSG’s solution was the perfect answer. MailControl is flexible, cost effective and provides the high level of protection we require. Since it’s been installed in our network, viruses and spam have been blocked from our servers before they even reach us. The system has allowed us to free up valuable internal resource for other projects as time spent managing email has now fallen to just a few minutes a day,” he added.

MCSG recognised that Blackspider Technologies MailControl would be the right solution to match the demanding requirements of FLAG Telecom. MailControl is a fully integrated suite of managed services, which provides comprehensive e-mail security by blocking viruses and junk e-mail before they reach corporate networks.

Messaging Master Steve Adams, Head of MCSG says, “The ever increasing volume and complexity of spam and viruses is making it harder for companies to justify retaining the management of email security in-house. Managed Services are becoming more and more attractive as they provide a cost effect solution to remove the pressure on bandwidth, storage and staff, as well as ensuring the best possible protection at all times.”

About MCSG
The Messaging Compliance & Security Group (MCSG) at HarrierZeuros was formed in recognition of the mission-critical nature of email today, and the unprecedented growth of emerging messaging technologies such as Instant Messaging (IM).
