Users Gain Easy Data Access and Instant Response Time Through Seamless Connection With SAP NetWeaver

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and PARIS—SOLUTIONS 2004 HYPERION INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE—Sept. 20, 2004 -- Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today announced Hyperion Data Integration Connector, a tool that enables SAP® Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) customers to fully leverage Hyperion Essbase at all levels and across the entire enterprise. Hyperion Data Integration Connector enables seamless access of Hyperion Essbase, the fastest and most scalable analytic software available, to SAP BW, the Business Intelligence and data warehousing component of SAP NetWeaver™.

Hyperion made the announcement at Solutions 2004 Hyperion International Conference in Paris.

Hyperion Data Integration Connector for SAP BW is an intelligent adapter technology for accessing SAP BW data sources to support customized Business Performance Management solutions built on Hyperion Essbase. Developed in partnership with Simba Technologies, Hyperion’s new connector enables business users to obtain on-demand snapshots of their information in SAP BW for ad-hoc reporting and advanced analytics. Through Hyperion Data Integration Connector, users can also quickly and easily leverage critical business information as provided by SAP BW and take advantage of the legendary power of Essbase to perform both financial and line of business analysis, with no compromise to scalability or speed.

“Third-party applications often expand on the functions of the major enterprise software firms,” said Brian Wood, research director of Gartner, Inc. “Solid links between these products can make life much easier for both the end users and IT.”

Hyperion Essbase provides powerful analytics across the enterprise—from finance to marketing, human resources, supply chain management, and other operational areas—allowing customers to conduct financial and non-financial analysis all from one product without impacting performance.

Hyperion Data Integration Connector is part of Essbase Integration Services, which provides integrated access to SAP R/3® software, SAP BW and non-SAP applications. The connector uses the OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) interface to support connectivity with SAP BW v3.0b and above. SAP has partnered with Simba Technologies in the development and support of this interface as part of its commitment to offering customers the ability to complement SAP solution capabilities with products of choice.

“With Hyperion Data Integration Connector, SAP customers can now bring the unmatched value of Hyperion Essbase to all desktops, allowing business analysts and other users to benefit from our technology’s flexibility, accessibility and scalability,” said John Kopcke, chief technology officer for Hyperion. “Not only does Hyperion Essbase provide users with access to SAP BW and other data sources with minimum IT maintenance, but it also offers a powerful environment to developers for creating innovative applications that will ultimately drive better business performance.”
