World’s Leading Spread Betting Company Chooses E|X Appliance Over F5’s “Buffalo Jump”

London, September 22, 2004 – IG Index (www.igindex.co.uk), the world’s leading spread betting company, today announced that it has chosen Redline Networks’ E|X 3200 enterprise application processor to help increase the performance of its website, reduce bandwidth consumption, and collapse the web tier in its data centre. Despite testing alternative solutions, including F5’s (NASDAQ: FFIV) new product Big IP, IG Index felt that Redline Networks’ E|X appliance came out on top both in overall performance and value to meet IG Index’s high demands. Redline reseller Hydra recommended the Redline E|X to IG Index.

“We wanted a solution that would deliver a huge increase in the performance of our website without necessitating us having to invest in more web servers or bandwidth,” said Ricky Thomas, IT Systems Manager of IG Index. “The performance improvements from the other solutions we looked at, including the F5 1500 with Version 9 software, were negligible when compared to what we achieved with the E|X 3200 from Redline Networks. The compression on the E|X 3200 is outstanding in comparison to the F5’s which made hardly any improvements to the speed of our site.

“With the E|X appliance we were able to more than double the performance and capacity of our website without adding additional servers, whilst at the same time reducing bandwidth consumption by half of what was used previously,” added Thomas.

Redline Networks’ Compression Policy Engine uniquely determines the optimal compression method for each individual connection, resulting in improved performance and eliminating application interoperability challenges that plague other solutions.

“Our E|X 3200 product is designed to speed up the performance of the website without the need to purchase more bandwidth or servers; the solution many companies try first to address performance issues,” said Paul Judd, UK & Ireland Country Manager at Redline Networks. “The fact that IG Index has chosen Redline Networks over our competitors in an objective evaluation is testament to the superiority of the technology and performance of our products in helping businesses obtain these critical improvements to their online services.”
