Elision/Captiva alliance aims to resolve outsourcing dilemma

Wednesday 22 September - Elision Ltd, one of the UK’s largest scanning services companies, has formed an alliance with Captiva Software Corporation, a world-leading provider of input management solutions.

The alliance will enable the two companies to deliver bespoke solutions of a size and complexity that previously has not been feasible.

Adrian Maurice, managing director Elision, said: “This will redefine the art of the possible especially where customers are unable to decide whether in-house input management operations, or outsourcing, best suits their needs.”

The Elision/Captiva proposition is based on two principles. Firstly, that the customer should be offered the best option, not just one that is convenient to the supplier, secondly, that a good system going into the future is unlikely to be readily accepted unless it is fully populated with information.

Maurice said: “Most current input management solutions are critically short of flexibility and, in the main, fail to address the cultural issues that changing from a paper-based business to one dependent on electronic systems will create. From research we have carried out for government clients, it is clear that unless a user is able to access all the historic information they require they will revert back to the paper file and update this from the electronic systems. Our business specialises in removing this paper barrier to modernisation.”

Mark Lewis, vice president, EMEA, Captiva, said: “Many organisations are unsure whether to completely outsource their capture needs or to dedicate internal resource to this vital component of their IT infrastructure. The partnership between Captiva and Elision solves this problem by providing the best of both worlds, and allows ultimate flexibility between control, security and value for money.”

The partnership was influenced by Elision’s track-record in delivering massive and complex input management solutions for government agencies. Lewis said: “Elision provides more than bulk scanning services; it has the process management skills that customers need to develop an input management strategy. It also has the logistical capability to overcome the problems associated with the movement of paper documents, which may have to be gathered from numerous locations before the operation can get under way.”

As part of the agreement, Captiva and Elision will collaborate on sales, marketing and consulting activities for InputAccel; FormWare, Captiva’s forms processing solution; and Digital Mailroom, its award-winning platform for the integrated management of documents and electronic media.
