* Inter-mediatE v5 helps carriers bring new services rapidly to market

Atlanta/London, September 24, 2004 – Intec has launched the latest version of IntermediatE, its market leading, award winning, multi-service mediation solution. Inter mediatE v5, which is already in production processing 1 billion events per day at one of the world’s top 5 carriers, is the product of two years of focused development. v5 illustrates the company’s long term commitment to Inter-mediatE and to the 220 service providers using it today. In response to customer market drivers, v5 delivers tools that enable rapid service introduction, including a new Rapid Development Environment. v5 also addresses an operator’s financial and operational challenges by delivering an exceptionally low total cost of ownership enabled by efficient and scalable use of hardware, assured revenue processing, and an environment that facilitates operational excellence.

“Intec continues to focus on developing and enhancing OSS products that meet real-world customer needs,” said Intec CEO, Kevin Adams. “Inter-mediatE has long been the multi-service mediation market leader in terms of both technical and business performance, but with v5 we are adding capabilities that further increase its usefulness, flexibility, and financial performance in a modern carrier environment. For example, we can help customers rapidly implement new services with assured revenue while supporting them in meeting regulatory requirements. ”

As an example of the enhancements available with the new version, Inter-mediatE v5 gives operators state-of-the-art tools with which to create and test new business rules, allowing them to react quickly to changes in products, business practices and market demands. Rick Woods, Intec’s vice president of product management at Intec, says: “The v5 Rapid Development Environment is a huge step forward for mediation technology. Functioning within an intuitive navigational environment enhanced by wizards, Intec’s RDE delivers market leading capabilities in business logic creation to support new services, business logic testing, new release regression testing, and new service deployment – all linked to the assured revenue architecture of v5.
This point is reinforced by Inter-mediatE customers such as George Stowers, IT manager at KMC Telecom, the largest privately-held US telecom operator, which recently conducted a lengthy evaluation of mediation solutions before selecting Inter-mediatE v5: “Network technologies and network services are changing rapidly. KMC needed a multi-service mediation solution that could handle our network and service evolution.”

“Service Providers are now forced to compete based on the service bundle that they can offer, and that encompasses the entire spectrum of voice, video, and data – the so-called triple-play,” says Rick Woods. “In 2004, we’ve found that correlation of network usage across multiple services is no longer the exception but the rule. A true multi-service mediation system is now a fundamental requirement for efficient, customer centric operations.”

In addition to KMC, Inter-mediatE v5 is already implemented and in production at one of the top 5 operators globally, and is being delivered to other projects Intec has underway. Existing customers are excited by the new capabilities and many are planning the simple upgrade procedure in the coming months. The reliability of this process, which with many mediation systems is difficult or costly, requiring very expensive vendor services and extensive system reconfiguration, is straightforward with Inter-mediatE v5.

Inter-mediatE v5 cost effectively scales and supports operators processing less than a million events per day to operators processing in excess of 1 billion events per day. As an example, implemented on an entry level server costing less than $50,000, v5 processes 100 million events per day through its advanced, highly-tuned architecture. This hardware and operational efficiency results in a significantly reduced TCO compared to other vendors’ solutions, making Inter-mediatE uniquely suitable for small/medium size service providers. Tier 1 operators are fully supported with performance benchmarks that prove the ability to process 12.8 billion events per 10 hour processing day on a single server, which represents approximately ten times the daily average of the world’s largest operators.
