A/W 04 collection launches at Top Shop by LFF

Womenswear and accessories designer Julie Bérubé is at the forefront of an exciting retail initiative as London Fashion Forum launches its up-and-coming designer concession at Top Shop, Oxford Street, Monday 4th October, 2004. Fusing designer with high-street has already proved successful for Top Shop, however, this is their first concept to sell some of the UK’s most promising designer’s collections in an uncompromised format with higher price points.

Julie Bérubé will lead the London Fashion Forum initiative along with womenswear label Mertle and George and accessories designer Nadia Minkoff. The collaboration comes as Top Shop acknowledges the growing demand the media and celebrity create for designer labels, paired with the level of interest new designers in the UK are receiving throughout London Fashion Week. Aside from Julie who has been specially selected to stay on throughout December, the designers retailing on the concession will rotate every six weeks.

Julie Bérubé is one of the new designers whose name and collection are making an impact. Her garments are currently sold in a small number of independent boutiques and designer e-tailers in the UK and Japan, including the LFF Boutique situated in the recently developed Kingly Court shopping forum. Her involvement in the recent LFW event, On/Off at the Royal Academy of Arts, saw interest from international buyers and media from Paris, Germany, Italy, the US, and Netherlands as well as the UK, who are keeping their eye on her progress.

Inspired by medieval heroes, woodland fairies and the botanical backdrops of days of yore fused with her interpretation of classic femininity, A/W 04 is Julie’s third collection. The range is festive, imaginative, wearable and on target with the season’s trends whilst still embracing her own signature. Her approach to fashion is unpretentious and playful and her clothes are a reflection of her lifestyle – concerned with people, travel, arts and emotion. A combination of strong and subtle colours come together and create shapes that are fluid and flattering and Julie uses mainly natural fibres such as wool, silk and cotton, placing her at the higher end of prêt-a-porter.

Julie Bérubé’s collection retailing at Top Shop from 4th October includes a mix of wool, angora, jersey and leather skirts, silk and jersey tops, wool and angora jackets, and
wool and leather handbags. Prices start from £50.
