F-Secure Launches Complete Security Solution for Home Users

Internet Security 2005 stops modern network worms, hacking exploits, phishing and spyware; also includes parental web controls and spam filtering

F-Secure has launched Internet Security 2005, a comprehensive security suite for home PC users and small businesses. Internet Security 2005 provides total security against Internet-borne threats including viruses and worms, spam, spyware, inappropriate Web content and phishing attempts.

Internet Security 2005 includes integrated anti-virus and firewalling, with automatic daily security updates and industry-leading response times to new viruses and other online threats. The solution also includes anti-spyware features, parental control over web access, anti-spam capability, anti-dialer modem protection, leak test protection, a rescue CD feature and an automatic update agent. The complete solution is priced at £38.95 (inc. VAT), including one year’s free security updates.

“Home PC users face a bewildering array of Internet security risks, and they have only been able to protect themselves using multiple software products”, said Matthew Piercy, Manager of UK and Ireland for F-Secure. “Internet Security 2005 includes all the tools needed to protect a user’s PC and data against current and future threats, in a single easy-to-manage solution. The automatic security updates let users focus on using their computers, and remove the uncertainty and worry from Web usage.”

The solution’s anti-spyware feature protects against potentially harmful programs that are often installed with popular applications such as file-sharing. Leak protection prevents hidden programs on the user’s machine from sending personal and confidential user information to servers on the Internet. Parental Control protects younger Internet users against inappropriate Web content, blocking sites by category.

Internet Security’s anti-spam feature filters unsolicited email and also stops ‘phishing’ attacks. The anti-dialer stops modem calls to expensive ‘service numbers’ without the user’s knowledge.

F-Secure’s automatic update agent manages daily virus definition updates, parental control updates and anti-spam updates, as well as program updates and security configuration updates. It also sends security news about new threats directly to users.

F-Secure Internet Security 2005 is Windows XP SP2 compliant, and integrates directly to the Microsoft Security Center.

F-Secure Internet Security 2005 is immediately available through F-Secure’s worldwide network of value-added resellers, distributors and retailers and through the F-Secure Estore at

Users upgrading from F-Secure’s Internet Security 2004 will benefit from the new features in the 2005 product immediately. The product will intuitively add the time remaining on the 2004 product license to the one-year license of the 2005 version.
