ADIC demonstrates breadth of hardware solutions at Storage Expo 2004

Storage Expo, 13-14 October, Olympia, London Stand 240 - ADIC (Advanced Digital Information Corporation, Nasdaq: ADIC), the leading supplier of intelligent storage solutions to the open systems market, will exhibit the breadth of its data management solutions at this year’s Storage Expo, with demonstrations of its enterprise-class and midrange products and the first European demonstration of its integrated disk-to-tape backup solution, Pathlight VX.

Products being exhibited include:

The ADIC Pathlight VX, an integrated disk-to-tape solution that is designed to enhance the backup and restore needs of businesses that want to reap the benefits of disk while retaining long-term data protection capabilities offered by tape. The Pathlight VX being demonstrated at Storage Expo will be the latest model, which has EMC CLARiiON disks integrated within the product. This version, v1.1, has a throughput of 2.0 TB/hour, adds features to increase flexibility in how data is stored on disk and written to tape, and offers extended RAS capabilities.

The ADIC Scalar i2000 intelligent tape library eliminates the need for external library control servers and enhances library functions to improve overall data protection and save users time and money over the life of their backup system. It is the first library to incorporate ADIC’s intelligent iPlatform architecture, integrating and simplifying key backup management functions while reducing the need for external applications, equipment, and management activities.

The Scalar 24 is ADIC’s compact, two-drive tape library that combines enterprise-class features and performance with entry-level affordability and ease of use. Ideal for unattended workgroup backup and restore for small and midsized businesses, the Scalar 24 provides the highest performance LTO and SDLT technology available, user-friendly ‘no manual’ operation, and upgrade options for advanced management and intelligent storage networking support. The Scalar 24’s networking options include iSCSI or Fibre Channel (FC) connectivity, allowing organisations to decide on the level of connectivity required. The Scalar 24 is backed by a complete three-year warranty and service coverage.

Christo Conidaris, regional director for ADIC UK, said, “We remain the undisputed leader in automated tape systems and at Storage Expo we will show the breadth of our offerings from enterprise level to solutions designed for small and midsized businesses, plus the investment we are making to stay ahead of other vendors with innovative products such as Pathlight VX. At Storage Expo we are keen to speak to users from organisations of all sizes about the importance of backup, disaster recovery policies and how to be confident that they have a storage strategy that can grow with their business.”
