Ingham Insurance Experiences Immediate Decrease in Spam Scourge with Award-winning Spam Appliance

Basingstoke, UK, Oct 14, 2004 – Barracuda Networks, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today announced that the Barracuda Spam Firewall has helped Ingham & Co (Liabilities) Ltd, an insurance underwriter operating in the Midlands and North of England, to successfully eliminate spam and viruses from its corporate email servers. Prior to deploying the Barracuda Spam Firewall 300, Inghams was flooded by as much as 323,000 spam messages a day putting its servers in danger of collapse and wasting countless hours of personnel time.

Inghams realised they needed an effective anti-spam solution and fast. They looked at several leading software solutions, but ultimately selected a Barracuda Spam Firewall from Yarm Computers, a Cleveland-based reseller, because it offered a cost effective solution to a very expensive problem.

“At its peak our spam problem was costing us £1000 a week in IT support alone as we fought to keep our Exchange server up and running,” continued Ingham. “We compared a number of software solutions with hardware and eventually decided that Barracuda Networks offered the most cost effective solution. The majority of spam dropped off immediately following full deployment of the two Barracuda Spam Firewall 300 models on the network. Inghams further reduced the remaining spam by utilizing the appliance’s per-user functionality and capabilities such as the Outlook plug-in which allows Inghams’ personnel to determine spam from legitimate email according to their individual email preferences and requirements.
